Breno returns for Bayern reserves after house fire

Brazilian defender Breno declared himself "very, very happy" after making his first appearance for the Bayern Munich reserves since being released on bail on suspicion of arson.

"I am very, very happy to be playing football again. I am satisfied," the 22-year-old was quoted as saying in the Munich daily Munchner Abendzeitung.

Breno spent 12 days in prison on suspicion of starting the fire that gutted his luxury villa in the Munich suburb of Gruenewald.

He was initially jailed after German courts decided that there was too great a risk that he would attempt to flee to his homeland -- a decision that was criticised by Bayern.

The player paid 500,000 euros ($670,000) in bail to secure his freedom.

A series of knee problems had prevented Breno from playing for the last seven months until Wednesday night's outing.

He has made just 21 league appearances for Bayern in three seasons, having also spent six months on loan to Bundesliga rivals Nuremberg.
