Bayern Munch are reportedly ready to make a surprise summer transfer swoop to prize Branislav Ivanovic away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The Serbian Chelsea rock has just one year left on his present contract and reports in the Express suggests that Bayern Munich have joined PSG in keeping close tabs on his contractual developments.

In keeping with Chelsea policy the player will only be offered a 12-month contract with the player being over 30 and has yet to sign it says the report.

Jose Mourinho does not want to lose the defender, describing him as one of the clubs best ever signings and being a favourite of Mourinho may be enough to persuade the player that he still has a long-term future at the club.

The Daily Star however suggest that the club may break their strict rules and offer the defender a three year deal to head-off interest from Munich and PSG.

Ivanovic joined Chelsea from Locomotiv Moscow in 2008 and has been their for the majority of the honours the club has won in that time including scoring the winning goal when the club won the Europa League in 2013.

The 31-year-old has made 309 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions and scored some 31 times in 8 seasons.
