Bayern's Schweinsteiger injury doubt for Napoli

Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger faces a race against time to be fit for Bayern Munich's Champions League home clash against Napoli on Wednesday after injuring his calf.

Having scored with a thunder-bolt of a shot on 19 minutes in the 4-0 win over Nuremberg on Saturday, which put Bayern four points clear at the top of the German league, Schweinsteiger hobbled off in the 71st minute.

"Bastian took a kick to the calf. That is normally a very difficult injury, which takes time to recover," explained Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes.

"We have to wait and see whether or not it is a calf strain. Then we can say more, but at the moment it doesn't look good."

Both Bayern and Napoli are unbeaten in Group A ahead of the clash at Munich's Allianz Arena.

After two wins and a draw in their European campaign, Munich are two points clear of the Italians, who are second in the table with a win and two draws.
