Bayern's Boateng banned for two games

Bayern Munich's Germany defender Jerome Boateng was on Monday banned for the next two German league games after he was sent off in the Bundesliga leaders' shock defeat at Hanover on Sunday.

The 23-year-old was shown a straight red card for a shove on Hanover defender Christian Schulz, which sparked a first-half melee in a bad-tempered match that saw Bayern beaten 2-1.

The disciplinary committee of the German Football Federation (DFB) gave Boateng the ban, which keeps out of Saturday's league visit of Nuremberg and the game on November 6 against Augsburg.

Bayern are top of the league and three points clear despite Sunday's defeat, which was only their second of the season.
