German league leaders Bayern Munich will be without defender Breno for Saturday night's Bundesliga clash at Hamburg as the Brazilian has aggravated a knee ligament injury.

The 22-year-old centre-back, who hit the headlines last year when he was arrested and held in custody on suspicion of arson, will miss the game in Hamburg after hurting his knee during training at the start of the week.

"His leg has reacted to the workload, but I think he will be able to train again at the start of next week," said Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes.

Breno returned to the Bayern bench for the first time this season in the 2-0 win at home to Wolfsburg last weekend.

Having been held in jail last year after a suspicious blaze at his villa in Munich, he landed himself in hot water last month for complaining on Twitter about being left our for a friendly game.

He also got on the wrong side of Heynckes after getting a tattoo on the same day he was sent home from training with a high temperature.

Bayern are top of the German league only by virtue of goal difference with rivals Borussia Dortmund and Schalke level on 40 points.
