Bayern star Olic demands more games or a transfer

Bayern Munich's disgruntled striker Ivica Olic has demanded more game time or a transfer in January as the Croatia star struggles for first-team action.

The 32-year-old scored after just two minutes in Istanbul on Friday, as Croatia romped to a 3-0 win over Turkey in their Euro 2012 play-off, in his first international appearance for more than a year.

After an injury-ravaged 12 months, Olic has made just five Bundesliga appearances for Bayern this season - all off the bench - and after Friday's success with Croatia, he wants away unless he gets more first-team starts.

Olic is out of contract in June and after suffering a serious knee injury last year, then a hip injury this season, he has dropped to third-choice striker at Bayern behind Germany's Mario Gomez and reserve Nils Petersen.

"The (Istanbul) game confirmed my opinion, if the situation doesn't change then I will try to leave during the winter break," he told Munich newspaper the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

"I have seen how nice it is to start a game."

After going through nine months of rehab last season because of the knee injury, Olic admits he had considered retiring.

Bayern's director of sport Christian Nerlinger would not rule out Olic's departure in January's transfer window after 'a good conversation' with the Croatia star.

Club president Uli Hoeness has said the club may be forced to buy in players during the winter break, if Olic makes good on his promise to leave.
