Bayern Munich have signed Jan Kirchhoff from Mainz, with the German defender to join up with the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season, sporting director Matthias Sammer said Friday.
The 22-year-old Kirchhoff, whose deal with Mainz comes to an end this summer, has signed a contract until 2016, said Sammer, in Qatar on a club training camp.
"It's the player we wanted," he said. "He's a very interesting player, a raw diamond with extremely big capabilities."
