Bayern Munich are determined to win the Champions League for manager Pep Guardiola in his last season at the club, according to Xabi Alonso.
Guardiola will become Manchester City boss in the summer, but before he does the Bavarians want to deliver another Champions League trophy for the Spaniard.
Bayern took a further step in that direction on Wednesday evening, drawing 2-2 at Benfica to earn a 3-2 aggregate victory.
The 2013 winners therefore reached their fifth straight semi-final. On Friday they will find out whether they will face City, Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, who on Wednesday knocked out Guardiola's old club Barcelona - the Champions League holders.
Speaking to BT Sport 2, Alonso said winning Europe's premier competition would be "for Pep, for the club, for everyone, but we have one more step to go to get to the final.
"Whoever we face, it's going to be tough. We know that we are really close and we want to make it to the final."
With Bayern leading 1-0 from the first leg, Raul Jimenez headed the tie level in the 27th minute at the Stadium of Light.
However the visitors took control when Arturo Vidal thunderously volleyed in and Thomas Muller tapped home either side of half-time.
Those goals rendered substitute Anderson Talisca's late free-kick a mere consolation.
Alonso added: "We knew before the game that they were going to fight and we saw that from the first moment, especially after they scored it was not going to be easy.
"Luckily we have come back. At 2-1 we looked like we were in control but they looked like pushing, so credit to them, they did really well - but at the end we are pleased we have gone through."
Talisca's free-kick, with 13 minutes to go, came after Javi Martinez brought down substitute Goncalo Guedes on the edge of the area when the attacker was through on goal.
Martinez was booked but many of Benfica's players, staff and supporters felt he should have been sent off. Home manager Rui Vitoria was banished to the stands for his protests.
Benfica's Victor Lindelof at first refused to be drawn on the issue but went as far as saying that Guedes was through on goal.
"I didn't see the situation so good, so I can't really say anything about that," he told BT Sport 2.
"He was alone with the goalkeeper so of course it was a good opportunity, but like I said I didn't see the opportunity so good so it's not for me to say."
Alonso, however, believes Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers was correct to brandish a yellow card.
"Of course the Benfica guys have one opinion. I have my opinion," he said.
"Some of us were close enough to help him so in my opinion it was the right decision."
