Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has revealed his latest knee injury is not serious and will only keep him out for "a few weeks".

The Spain international had to come off during the first half of the 2-0 friendly win over England on Friday, with scans showing damage to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

There had been fears the 24-year-old, who has been plagued by knee problems in recent seasons, might be set for another extended spell on the sidelines.

But Thiago allayed those on Sunday, saying on Twitter: " Fortunately I will be out just for a few weeks."

He has already withdrawn from the Spain squad for Tuesday's friendly against Belgium.
