Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes said on Thursday that he is confident Brazilian defender Breno will be able to join up with the rest of the squad on their training camp in Qatar next month.

Bayern will spend a week in the Gulf state from January 2-9 but Breno is currently unable to leave Germany as part of the conditions of his bail.

The 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of setting fire to his luxury villa in the Munich suburb of Gruenewald in September.

"We seem to be on the right road. It would be good for the boy psychologically if he could come," Heynckes said on the eve of Bayern's last Bundesliga game of the calendar year, at home to Cologne.

Breno was remanded in custody on September 24 before being released on bail on October 6.

The local prosecutor confirmed on Thursday that a request to allow the player to leave Germany had been rejected.

A final decision is now in the hands of a judge, but Heynckes rejected any possibility that Breno may try to flea.

"We are not going to leave him in Qatar or in New Delhi," said the Bayern coach.

After spending a week in Qatar, Bayern fly to India to play a friendly against the Indian national team on January 10, before returning to Bavaria with the Bundesliga season due to restart on January 20.
