Warnock Not All White

Ex Barnsley winger leaves, and is set for retirement.

Former Barnsley winger and Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock is set to bring the curtain down on his 33 year managerial career after leaving Leeds United this evening following their 2-1 defeat at home to Derby County.

The 64 year old who has also had spells in charge of Gainsborough Trinity, Burton Albion, Scarborough, Notts County, Torquay, Huddersfield, Plymouth, Oldham, Bury, Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers vowed to retire if he could not lead Leeds back into the Premier League this season.

Their 16th defeat from 40 games this afternoon left the Whites eight points off the play-off places with just six games remaining and this proved the final straw for Warnock.

The former Champions League Semi-Finalists who are now looking for their sixth permanent manager since they fell out of the top flight nine years ago have placed another former Reds midfielder in temporary charge for the remainder of the 2012-2013 campaign- their Academy manager Neil Redfearn.
