Tykes tie up Colace contract

Barnsley have secured the signing of on-loan midfielder Hugo Roberto Colace on a permanent basis.

The 24-year-old Argentinian impressed Tykes boss Simon Davey during 18 appearances while on a six-month loan deal with the Championship club this season from Newell's Old Boys.

Colace has signed a deal which ties him to the Oakwell club until summer 2010.

"I am keen to continue to improve," he told the club's official website.

"Simon Davey and the staff have made my transition from Argentina much easier and I feel at home here.

"I am keen to continue to improve my football and give the team 100 per cent."

Davey added: "He has been a continually consistent performer and helped make the midfield solid."
