Tykes table bid for Ward

Barnsley have made an offer for highly-rated Chesterfield striker Jamie Ward.

Ward, 22, has come to the attention of a number of higher division clubs after scoring 16 goals for the Spireites this season.

The striker is out of contract at the end of the season and the League Two club are believed to be considering an offer from the Tykes along with two other bids from unnamed Championship clubs.

The South Yorkshire club are on the lookout for a new striker after losing Iain Hume for the rest of the season with a fractured skull.
