Tykes snap up Shackell

Barnsley have completed the signing of central defender Jason Shackell from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Oakwell, having impressed while on loan at Doncaster Rovers last season.

Tykes boss Mark Robins told the club's official website: "I am delighted to have signed Jason. He has proven himself to be a more than capable Championship player and is a leader on the pitch.

"I am looking forward to a long and successful working relationship with him here at Barnsley."

Meanwhile the Tykes have also agreed a two-year deal with Motherwell winger Jim O'Brien.

Director Don Rowing told the Sheffield Star: "Jim has signed a two-year deal with us, we believe he's going to be a very welcome addition to our squad."
