Tykes slam exit rumour

Barnsley manager Simon Davey has rubbished reports claiming midfielder Brian Howard has submitted a transfer request.

The 24-year-old has featured in all of the Tykes' ten Championship matches this season, but weekend reports claimed the former Southampton trainee was looking to quit Oakwell.

"Brian has not - in any way - requested a transfer," Davey told the club's official website.

Howard himself added: "I signed a two-year contract in the summer and I'm going nowhere.

"My future's here at Barnsley - you can't pay any attention to what you read in the papers."
