Barnsley boss Simon Davey has admitted he faces a fight to keep coveted goalkeeper Heinz Muller at Oakwell.

The 29-year-old German joined the Tykes on a free transfer in the summer but his form in the Championship has led to a wave of speculation linking him with top-flight clubs.

Middlesbrough and Fulham are believed to be leading the race to sign the former Lillestrom keeper.

"It probably will be a fight to keep Heinz in January, but we will cross that bridge when it comes," Davey told the Yorkshire Post.

"My job is to try and keep the group together and see if we can improve.

"I get a sheet of paper on my desk every week saying what clubs have been at our games and I am cringing when I look at it.

"Clubs like Celtic, Rangers, Liverpool, Manchester United, Everton. Flipping heck, last year it was Darlington, Rochdale and Hartlepool.

"Heinz has exceeded our expectations, he has been fantastic and is rightly getting rave reviews."
