The Tykes will kick off the new campaign against Brian Laws' Owls on Saturday August 8 before two successive home games against Coventry seven days later and Preston on August 18. Simon Davey's side face a daunting first month, with a trip to Leicester and a home match against Reading completing August's league fixtures. The second of six local derbies is at Doncaster on October 17, while the Tykes take on Sheffield United at Oakwell on November 7 with the return against Sheffield Wednesday on January 16. Barnsley face Doncaster at home and head to Sheffield United on successive weekends - March 27 and April 3 - and take on Newcastle at Oakwell on December 12 and at St James' Park on March 6. A trip to Preston awaits on Boxing Day, while the Tykes, involved in relegation battles for the last three seasons, travel to West Brom on the final day.
