Barnsley defender Kieran Trippier has been included in the England Under-21 squad for Tuesday's friendly against Italy in Empoli. Trippier, 20, on loan from Manchester City, has been drafted in by coach Stuart Pearce due to a number of withdrawals from his squad. Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), James Tomkins (West Ham), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea - on loan at Bolton) and Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal) have all pulled out out due to injury. Trippier initially arrived at Oakwell in February for the final three months of last season and rejoined in the summer on a long-term loan deal. He was an unused substitute against Romania last October during his first Under-21 call-up.
