Steele set for cup heartache

Goalkeeper Luke Steele could miss Barnsley's FA Cup semi-final at Wembley after the Tykes failed to agree a loan extension with West Bromwich Albion.

Steele, who helped the South Yorkshire club reach the last four clash with Cardiff City after fine performances against Liverpool and Chelsea, is expected back at The Hawthorns after the two clubs failed to agree a fresh loan deal.

The Baggies are believed to have been subsidising the former Manchester United keeper's initial loan stay at Oakwell.

"Luke will be back here training with us on Monday as far as we're aware," revealed Albion boss Tony Mowbray.

"It's a sad state of affairs but I like Barnsley manager Simon Davey so I'm not going to get into a war of words with him. It's unfortunate for Luke but there you go."
