Steele handed FA fine
09 Jul 2008 - 16:31:56
Barnsley goalkeeper Luke Steele has been fined £1,000 by the FA after admitting to wearing an unauthorised advertising logo.
The 23-year-old, who rose to prominence during the Tykes' FA Cup run last season, apologised to the FA for the offending item - a visible logo on his undershirt, worn against Hull City and Leicester City in April.
He was also given a warning by the FA over his future conduct, although reports were unclear as to whether the illegal shirt would have to be destroyed or just stripped of its logo.
Steele made 16 appearances for Barnsley after arriving midway through the season but he is set to begin the 2008-09 campaign as the first-choice shot-stopper at Oakwell.
