Steele frustrated at Oakwell
20 Apr 2009 - 12:30:05
Barnsley goalkeeper Luke Steele has hinted that he will quit the club in the summer after growing frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities.
The 24-year-old was a star of the Tykes run to the FA Cup semi-finals last season, but has had to play second fiddle to Heinz Muller for most of the current campaign.
He told The Daily Mail: "Last season was brilliant for me, but I feel wasted.
"This year I just had seven games at the start of the season and I've not had a look-in since.
"Being on the bench means nothing to me. I don't want to play second fiddle, I want to go to a club where I can be a number one."
Steele was handed a rare start at the weekend as the relegation-threatened Tykes drew 0-0 at home to Reading.
