South Yorkshire derby postponed
The pitch at Hillsborough is in good condition, but following discussions with South Yorkshire Police the Owls had concerns about public safety.[LNB]Wednesday chairman Lee Strafford said: "As a club we were confident of staging this game and we know that many people across South Yorkshire wanted to come to this match.[LNB]"However, the approach roads to Hillsborough and pathways surrounding the ground are very icy and with further sub-zero temperatures forecast the conditions certainly do not look likely to improve.[LNB]"Obviously we only want people to come and enjoy matches at our stadium, but when we cannot guarantee peoples' safety coming to the game we have to act responsibly and make the right decision in postponing the fixture."[LNB]No date has yet been agreed for the rearranged fixture.[LNB][LNB]
