Interesting Stats

Barnsley are undefeated in their last three meetings with Leicester and on each of their last two trips to the King Power Stadium.

The Reds have though won just nine of their 52 trips to Leicester, over 114 years and have won just one of the last eight, losing five.

Leicester could go top with victory tomorrow and their record of 17 points from their opening eight games is their best start to a season for five years when they went on to win promotion as League One champions.

It is the Foxes best start to a second tier season for 11 years. Back in 2002-2003 they picked up 19 points from their first eight matches and finished the season in second place.

Nigel Pearson’s men are still unbeaten at home in 2013-2014, winning four and drawing one in all competitions.

Their last home defeat came back in April, which is their only reverse in the last nine games at the King Power.

This is Barnsley’s worst start for 27 years.

They also took just four points from the opening eight games of the 1986-87 campaign.

The Reds have lost each of their last three matches for the first time since New Year’s Day and the first time under David Flitcroft.

The last time they lost four on the bounce was October/November 2012.

Barnsley have now won just two of their last 17 matches in all competitions, one of the last 11 and have lost seven of the ten they have played in 2013-2014.

Barnsley have failed to keep a clean sheet so far this season, the longest run without a shutout from the start of a season for 23 years. Back in 1990-1991, it took until the ninth league outing to secure a clean sheet.

The Reds have now conceded more goals than ANYBODY in the entire Premier or Football League. Out of the top five division, only Hyde United, who are bottom of the Skrill Conference have conceded more (26).

Only Hyde have a worse goal difference too than Barnsley’s –13 with –18.

The Reds are the only side in the Championship to have lost every away game this season (four out of four). It is the first time they have lost their first four away games of a season in 13 years. They have NEVER before lost their five league games on the road.
