Robins hails Teixeira debut
Published: 04 Feb 2010 - 18:14:54
Barnsley manager Mark Robins rates Filipe Teixeira's first appearance for the Tykes in the 4-1 midweek win at Preston as "one of the best debuts I have ever seen".The 29-year-old West Brom midfielder joined Barnsley on loan on transfer deadline day and made an immediate impression as Robins' side secured their biggest win of the season.Robins said: "Filipe (Teixeira) and Jay (Rodriguez) are two quality players and we saw that on Tuesday night."Those lucky enough to be there saw exactly what they can bring to our squad. Filipe was only introduced to the lads just before kick-off and he was excellent."Jay will go on to become a top player and we saw a cameo of that on Tuesday. He got a goal which will really help him settle in here. That was a big plus for him."We need to build on that now. We were outstanding, but we now have a home game and we have to make that count. We have to come away with three more points. There are a lot of good things to take into Saturday and we have a lot to live up to now."
