Robins Gives Up On Hammill
Boss concedes defeat in Hammill saga Barnsley manager Mark Robins appears to have lost the fight to keep star winger Adam Hammill at the club. There has been widespread interest in the ex-Liverpool man after banging in 8 goals in the first half of the season and now Robins doesn't think there is any chance Hammill will be at Oakwell come February 1st. He told the Star: "I don't think there is any chance of keeping Adam," "But it's out of my hands. If he does move, then so be it and we'll look to do something different. However we'll hope that he sees sense and he stays with us."There has been interest from one or two clubs, but that's out of my control now."If he decisdes to leave and a club come up with the right money I guess he will go and speak to them." Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was in the stands during Barnsley's 2-1 win over Coventry and while many claim his purpose was to check on the progress of loanee Matt Hill, the obvious reason would be to have a look at the Reds' prized asset. Hammill himself did say a number of weeks ago he would turn down a move away from Oakwell but it is looking increasingly likely that he will not be a Barnsley player come the turn of the month.
