Ritchie rules out Shipp raid

Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie has scotched claims that he is set to make a bid to take Sheffield United's veteran striker Neil Shipperley back to Oakwell on loan.

The much-travelled player is reportedly available to leave the Premiership side on loan and has been linked with the Tykes, as he would not have to leave South Yorkshire if he made the move from Bramall Lane.

However, while Ritchie is on the lookout for a new striker, he claims Shipperley is not on his wanted list.

He said: "Marc Richards is a younger Neil Shipperley. I need something different, although Neil is a good player.

"We're still after a striker but we're not going to bring in someone for the sake of it."
