Barnsley have completed the signing of Northampton Town midfielder Paul Reid on a two-year contract.
The two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the move on Tuesday, after the Tykes came back with an improved offer following the rejection of their initial bid.
Reid passed a medical on Wednesday and will make his debut in Saturday's friendly against Leicester City.
The 22-year-old began his career at Carlisle United before moving to SPL giants Rangers.
He failed to break into the first-team picture at Ibrox and joined the Cobblers on loan in December 2002 before making the switch permanent the following summer, going on to make 54 league appearances for the club.
