Reid boost for Tykes

Barnsley have been boosted by the news that skipper Paul Reid could be back in action within the next five weeks.

It was thought the player could be on the sidelines for a considerable amount of time, but it appears his hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared.

Barnsley physio Rick Holden told the club's official website: "Paul is really flying at the moment and is doing really well.

"He is pain-free after his hamstring injury and has been doing some good work in the pool and on the bike.

"We will assess him daily but it is nowhere near as bad as we thought."

Meanwhile, Richard Kell is also back in full training after recovering from the broken leg he suffered while playing for former club Scunthorpe at the end of April and he is closing in on his Tykes debut.

Holden added: "Richard now needs to build up his general fitness and sharpness through football work before he gets the chance to play in the reserves."
