Reds To Speak With Butcher

Caley Jags boss set for talks

Barnsley have been granted permission by Inverness Caledonian Thistle to speak with their manager Terry Butcher about the managerial vacancy at Oakwell.

The Reds have turned their attention to the 54-year-old to replace Keith Hill after ex-Nottingham Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll revealed last night that he had turned down the chance to manage the club.

Caley Thistle currently lie second in the Scotttish Premier League and are the division's highest scorers with 44 goals in 21 matches, with striker Billy McKay leading the league's goalscoring charts along with Niall McGinn and Leigh Griffiths, all having netted 14 goals.

Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron said: “We have given Barnsley permission to speak to Terry.

"Given our current position in the SPL and the fact we have a cup semi-final on the horizon, it is inevitable that if any managerial positions that come up our management team will no doubt be on the radar.

"We will be doing everything possible to ensure that Terry remains with the club and finishes what has been an incredible journey to date for us all."
