Reds Clinch Shackell Signing
Defender arrives at Oakwell Mark Robins has clinched his second signing in less than a week by signing Wolves defender Jason Shackell on a three-year deal. An undisclosed fee was agreed for the ex-Norwich centre-back and he met with Robins yesterday to discuss terms and agreed to join the Robins revolution. He started out with the Canaries in 2003 and spent five years at Carrow Road making 119 appearances, including 11 appearances in their Premier League campaign. He then signed for Wolves in 2008 and spent time on loan back at Norwich and at Doncaster Rovers. Boss Robins spoke of the signing: "I am delighted to have signed Jason today. He has proven himself to be a more than capable Championship player and is a leader on the pitch. I am looking forward to a long and successful working relationship with him here at Barnsley FC". The Reds new boy Shackell also had a few words after his move and praised Robins' ambition: "I am delighted to be here. I feel that this is the right place to be at this stage of my career. "I met with Mark Robins and he is really ambitious and wants to push on with Barnsley. "He was keen to get me in and his enthusiasm, ambition and drive really made this feel like the right place for me. I am ambitious; I want to be pushing on in my career and I feel this is the right place to do that". Mark and Jason were talking to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk.
