BBC Radio Sheffield understands that Barnsley have offered a player/coach deal to Irish international Kevin Kilbane.
The 35-year-old, currently at Hull City, is working for BBC Radio 5 in Poland as part of the Euro 2012 coverage but the Reds have reportedly approached him with terms and are awaiting a response.
He has earned 110 caps for the Republic of Ireland and names Preston, West Brom, Sunderland, Everton and Wigan amongst his former clubs.
