Liddell and Eaden replace Moore. Barnsley Premier League legends Andy Liddell and Nicky Eaden have taken their first forays into management after being put into caretaker charge at Rotherham following the departure of Ronnie Moore yesterday. Liddell will be caretaker manager whilst Eaden, along with Paul Warne and Andy Dibble will assist him. Both players played key roles in helping Barnsley win promotion to the Premier League for the one and only time in 1996-1997. Eaden was an ever present at right back whilst Liddell came up with key goals whether as a starter or more regularly as a substitute. Eaden also played a key role in helping Barnsley make into the Division One Play-Off final in 2000 where he made 37 appearances and came on as a sub in the 4-2 final defeat to Ipswich. Liddell moved to the Don Valley Stadium last season and made two appearances but has been promoted to the top job following Moore’s departure. The Millers looked a good bet for promotion at the start of the season but on a run of just two wins in nine which included a 5-0 hammering at Chesterfield at the weekend which proved the final nail in Moore’s coffin, they dropped out of the League Two play-off places for the first time this season yesterday.
