CO'G move edges closer

Barnsley are believed to be close to signing Chris O'Grady from Sheffield Wednesday after having a second bid accepted for the striker.

A fee of around £300,000 is thought to have been agreed between the two clubs, which would mean the Owls will lose £50,000 on the big man, after signing him for £350,000 from Rochdale in 2011.

The 27-year-old has been the Reds number 1 transfer target so far this summer after an impressive loan spell, scoring six in 16, including three in the last four games of the season which saw the Reds survive relegation at the expense of Peterborough United.

Barnsley had a bid turned down for O'Grady last weekend and boss David Flitcroft said the deal was unlikely to happen but in a favourable U-turn, the Reds now look set to get their man.

The Reds are also believed to be keen on signing former loan keeper Ross Turnbull, should Luke Steele not commit to a one-year deal. Turnbull has just been released by Chelsea and appeared 26 times for the Reds over two loan spells between 2004 and 2005.
