North End land Hume

Preston have signed Canada striker Iain Hume on loan from Championship rivals Barnsley. The 26-year-old has arrived at Deepdale on a 93-day loan with a view to a permanent transfer and is expected to go straight into the squad for the visit of Norwich on Saturday. Hume, who suffered a fractured skull in 2008, has made just two first-team appearances for Barnsley this season and is relishing the chance to get regular football. He told PNE Player: "Whenever I have played here in the past there has been decent crowds and they do get on your back a bit when you are the away team. It'll be good to be on the home side now, it will be a different story but hopefully we can get the crowd behind us and push forward. "It's been a tricky start but Preston haven't played poorly, I have watched a few of the highlights and I watched the game the other day and we don't deserve to be where we are. "If I can help and can push the team forward in some little way then I am doing my job and if the team continues playing the way they are then I am sure they will push out of the position they are in."
