Foster and Edwards to be released, along with Done and Rooney.

Stephen Foster is set to end his six-year spell at Oakwell after it was revealed he will not be offered a new deal at the club.

The 32 year old has made 244 appearances for The Reds, scoring 12 times since signing from Burnley for £100,000 in August 2007.

The former Crewe trainee was a key part of the side that defeated Liverpool and Chelsea en route to the FA Cup Semi-Finals in 2008, scoring the equaliser at Anfield and he has still been a major part of David Flitcroft’s revival in 2013 but he was ruled out of the final four matches of the season with a hamstring injury, his final appearance being the 6-0 hammering to Charlton on the 13th April.

Also looking for pastures new is fellow defender Rob Edwards. The 30 year old was signed by Keith Hill in July 2011 but has suffered an injury hit two years in South Yorkshire. The former Blackpool man has made just 18 appearances, which all came in 2011-2012 and he has spent much of this season on loan at Shrewsbury and Fleetwood.

It has also just been revealed that Matty Done and John Rooney have not being retained. Done signed on a free transfer in June 2011 and made 47 appearances but spent second half of this season on loan at Hibernian.

Rooney, brother of Manchester United and England star Wayne, was recruited for the club’s Development team but has failed to impress and will also now leave.
