Barnsley manager Gudjon Thordarson was delighted with the impact Daniel Nardiello made on his Tykes debut.
The Manchester United striker only completed his one-month loan deal to Oakwell hours before Tuesday's match against Blackpool.
However, he went on to score a brace as Barnsley eased to a 3-0 win, much to his manager's pleasure.
"I haven't felt this good for ages," Thordarson said after the match.
"I gambled on putting the lad on from the start. Two goals from the boy was something I did not expect.
"This was a very, very important game. It was important to send out the right message that we meant business."
