MPs add weight to Hume case
10 Dec 2008 - 13:03:36
Two more MPs have joined a growing group calling for the Football Association to punish Chris Morgan for the challenge which left Barnsley striker Iain Hume with a fractured skull.
Last month, the FA decided to take no further action against the Sheffield United captain over his clash with Hume, which left the Barnsley forward with a fractured skull.
Morgan caught Hume in the head with his elbow during the game at Oakwell on November 8, with the Canadian striker being hospitalised and requiring emergency surgery to deal with his serious head injury.
Barnsley and Hume are currently considering what legal avenues are open to them, but two more MPs have lent their support to an early day motion tabled by Barnsley Central's Eric Illsley calling for action to be taken.
Jim Devine, Labour MP for Livingston, and Michael Clapham, Labour MP for Barnsley West, are the latest to pledge their support.
