McNulty Heads To The Rovers

Defender makes a well worn trip to Birkenhead.
Tranmere Rovers have again come calling to Oakwell by taking defender Jim McNulty on a month’s loan.
The League One strugglers who have won just one of their opening nine games of the season have previously signed Antony Kay, Martin Devaney and Stephen Foster from The Reds and have now moved for 28 year old McNulty to solve their defensive woes after shipping 20 league goals so far- the second worst in the division.
McNulty, who was signed from Brighton in the summer of 2011, had a fine debut season at Oakwell, making 46 appearances but injury and poor form restricted him to just 14 games in 2012-2013.
The former Scotland Under 19 international has appeared just once this season, playing the full 90 minutes in the disastrous 5-1 Capital One Cup defeat to Southampton in August.
Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore told his club’s official website:
"We are low on numbers in defence, so I'm delighted to have signed Jim for a month,"
"We've got a lot of young players on the pitch at the moment so Jim's experience will be useful. He's a player I've been keen on for a while. He can play in a couple of positions, is big and strong and uses the ball well."
McNulty will be hoping to fare better than the last defender to make the 79 mile trip from Barnsley to Birkenhead.
Stephen Foster signed for Tranmere on a free transfer in the summer after six years and 226 appearances for The Reds but managed just four games with Rovers before having his contract cancelled.
