Manset fires Royals to victory
Mathieu Manset came off the bench to earn Reading a crucial 1-0 win over Barnsley in the npower Championship and keep their promotion push alive.
Brian McDermott's team battered away at the Barnsley goal in the second half but found goalkeeper Luke Steele in inspired form.
But the keeper could not prevent Manset from netting with 20 minutes remaining.
After coming off the bench, he provided the breakthrough, taking just five minutes to make an impact as he linked up with Shane Long to finish from close range.
The win moves the Berkshire club to within three points of the top six.
