Barnsley have snapped up former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper David Lucas on a short-term deal.
The 29-year-old has agreed a month-to-month contract with the Tykes as he attempts to resurrect his career after suffering a serious knee injury while with the Owls.
The former Preston North End shot-stopper moved to Hillsborough in the summer of 2004 and made 80 appearances for the club.
He was released by Wednesday at the end of last season and has not played a first-team game for 11 months.
However, Lucas will be eligible to feature in Saturday's FA Cup third round clash at Southend United.
