    Lucas laid low

    02 Apr 2007 - 11:56:42

Barnsley goalkeeper David Lucas has been ruled out of the games against Ipswich Town and Birmingham City over the Easter weekend after being knocked out in the defeat against Derby County.

The 29-year-old former Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper was knocked unconscious after colliding with the Rams' Giles Barnes early in the second half and had to leave the pitch on a stretcher.

Tykes boss Simon Davey told the club's official website: "David has a bit of concussion and the doctor has advised that he rests for eight days. That will keep him out of the Easter games."

It was Lucas' first start for the Oakwell-based side since his transfer from Wednesday in January.
