Mark Robins was full of praise for his Barnsley side who have now lost just once in their past seven home matches following Tuesday night`s 2-0 triumph over Preston. Barnsley took control of the game in the opening stages, with Danny Haynes and on-loan West Ham winger Frank Nouble utilised to good effect down the flanks in an expansive 4-3-3 formation. The star of the first half was England Under-19 midfielder Jacob Mellis - making his Barnsley debut alongside Nouble following his deadline-day loan move from Chelsea - who orchestrated play to excellent effect. But it was goals from Garry O`Connor and Haynes which clinched the victory, and Robins said: "I thought we were good value for the three points. We missed plenty of chances and the game could've been out of sight. "Preston made it very difficult. They're fighting for their lives. They're fighting for Phil and the supporters and the first thing we had to do was match that. "We passed the ball really well in the first half on a pitch it wasn't easy to pass on. To a man, everyone did very well. I was delighted for Danny and Garry O'Connor getting on the scoresheet. Garry looked lively and the new lads coped pretty well."
