Hill In The Market For More PlayersÂ…

….. as three bids fail.

Barnsley manager Keith Hill is still hunting to bring three more players into his depleted squad, despite adding Nottingham Forest striker Marcus Tudgay on loan this week.

Hill confirmed to local media today that he has enquired about Sheffield Wednesday front man Chris O’Grady- who The Reds also tried to sign in the summer- but were informed by the Owls that the 26 year old, who Hill worked with during his time at Rochdale is sidelined with a foot injury which meant he could only manage the last nine minutes of Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat at Middlesbrough last Friday. O’Grady has managed five goals in 10 starts for the Owls this season.

Meanwhile Hill has been thwarted in a double loan raid on fellow relegation battlers Peterborough. The Posh caused a stir last week when they transfer-listed Gabriel Zakuani, Tyrone Barnett, Emile Sinclair and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing for a breach of club discipline- although Zakuani has since being removed from the list, and The Reds tried to take advantage of that by making loan moves for Barnett and Sinclair. Both players impressed in Posh’s 2-0 win at Oakwell in October. Striker Sinclair, 24, has netted 13 times in 42 games for Peterborough, but only twice this season, whilst fellow hit-man Barnett, 27, joined the London Road outfit in February, initially on loan from Crawley and then in a £1.1m permanent deal, and he netted at Oakwell this season.

Unfortunately Posh boss Darren Ferguson rebuffed the approaches, and has stated he will only let the players leave in permanent transfers.
