Hill Has Board Backing

Rowing says manager is not under pressure.

Barnsley director Don Rowing has laughed off rumours that Keith Hill's position as manager has come under threat during the club's recent run of poor results.

Saturday's 1-0 home win over Peterborough ended a run of four straight defeats, all without scoring a goal and was only their second victory in 11 outings which have included eight defeats.

This led Hill, who has only really known success after winning 101 of his 231 games in charge of former club Rochdale, said he would normally expect to be fired and feared he was under pressure, but Rowing said that could not be further from the truth.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star Rowing said:

"He's not under any pressure from us; the only pressure he's under is that which he puts on himself,"

"We know we have a fight on our hands. We are more concerned than worried about our recent results, but we're all pulling together and we're right behind Keith.

"Managing in the Championship is a big learning curve and all clubs go through a bad run, but Keith wants to be successful and at his previous club he was used to winning.

"Any talk of us sacking him is just crazy; he has our full backing and support.

"One of the remits we gave him when he took the job was to retain our Championship status - and we're confident we will do that."

"We are all gunning in the same direction under him."
