Hammill heads to Oakwell

Liverpool winger Adam Hammill has joined Barnsley on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who is the Tykes' third signing of deadline day, has failed to make a first-team appearance for the Premier League side but has a wealth of experience from loan spells at Dunfermline, Southampton and Blackpool.

Hammill is looking forward to his time at Oakwell, saying: "I had the chance to go on loan to Sheffield United, Blackpool and Leeds but, after discussing it with Liverpool and my agent, it was decided that I should join Simon Davey at Barnsley.

"I hope that the fans at Oakwell will give an out-and-out Scouser top support because I'm really up for helping Barnsley win some games.

"I'm used to fighting for a Red cause."
