Hammill: Davey was key factor

The 21-year-old, also wanted by Leeds, has signed a three-year contract after Barnsley agreed "a substantial six-figure fee" with Liverpool. Hammill spent the final three months of last season on loan with Davey's side. Hammill said: "I spoke to a few other clubs as well, but the chance to come back here and work again with Simon was the main reason behind my decision to come back. "We had a great relationship while I was here on loan and Simon really let me go out and express myself as a footballer on the pitch. I knew the set-up down here and I really enjoyed my time last season. "Simon made me a better player last season and he really helped bring me along. That was a big part of my decision to come back to Barnsley. I want to develop my football and hopefully I can get back to the top."
