From Owl To Tyke?
O'Grady hints at permanent move.
On loan striker Chris O’Grady has hinted he could sign on at Oakwell permanently this summer.
The 27 year old joined the club on loan from local rivals Sheffield Wednesday in January after scoring for the Owls at Oakwell the previous month.
O’Grady, who worked with Reds boss David Flitcroft at Rochdale between 2009 and 2010 has netted three goals in nine appearances for his current side, including the second in the 2-0 victory over Leicester on Monday. Interestingly Barnsley are above Wednesday in the table on goals scored.
And now O’Grady has hinted he could stay on past the summer after finding himself appreciated and wanted at Oakwell.
He told the Sheffield Star:
“I’ll definitely assess it at the end of the season, but the infrastructure in the club, well it can’t get any better,”
“The players couldn’t be any more accommodating and the manager is just perfect for me.
“I’m enjoying it and I’m enjoying my football, which is the most important thing.”
“You want to prove that you’re a better player than your club believes you are,”
“If I’m not regarded as an important player for the team then you’ve just got to prove people wrong.
“I’m not looking at anything at the moment, I’m just focused on the next game.
“But if I perform then a new deal will take care of itself.”
