Fozzie Signs New Deal

With O'Brien set to follow.

Defender Stephen Foster has signed a new one year deal at Oakwell to extend his stay at the club into a sixth season.

The former club captain has made 210 appearances for The Reds including 42 in the 2011-2012 season and had no hesitation in accepting a new deal when manager Keith Hill revealed the former Crewe and Burnley centre half would be of the three out of contract players he wanted to retain.

Foster told the Star:

“It’s great to have agreed a new deal, I’m really happy at the club,”

“It’s been a tough season and it’s no secret that confidence has been low over the last couple of months because results haven’t gone our way, but we need to put this season to bed now and be happy we’ve retained our Championship status.

“I enjoy playing for the club and have some fond memories. Next season will be another big challenge, but one we’re all looking forward to.”

Irish winger Jim O’Brien is also close to putting pen to paper after being offered a two-year contract. The 24 year old who joined from Motherwell in 2010 has made 66 appearances for the Oakwell outfit including 32 in this campaign.

Meanwhile the club have confirmed they have already sold 4,000 season tickets for the 2012-2013 season, meaning they have already sold over half of what they sold for 2011-2012.
