Flicker Set For Job
Announcement tomorrow with caretaker in pole position.
Barnsley’s current caretaker David Flitcroft is set to be named the permanent manager of the club, at least until the end of the season.
The 38 year old who was assistant to previous boss Keith Hill has steered the club to two wins in his three games in temporary charge including a fantastic 2-0 derby victory over Leeds at Oakwell today that ended a run of 11 home league games without victory and lifted The Reds off the bottom of the Championship.
With Sean O’Driscoll and Terry Butcher turning down the job in the last week, both owner Patrick Cryne and Chief Executive Don Rowing see Flitcroft as a safe pair of hands to steer the team away from trouble.
Rowing confirmed to BBC Radio Sheffield prior to today’s game that there will be an announcement on the managerial issue tomorrow and it was thought even then that Flitcroft would be handed the role. Today’s result has further strengthened his position.
