Striker a target but ball is in Wednesday's court.
Barnsley manager David Flitcroft has admitted he is keen to sign Sheffield Wednesday striker Chris O’Grady permanently this summer but that it is up to his parent club as to whether a deal is viable.
The 27 year old became a huge fans favourite during his three-month loan spell at Oakwell, scoring six times in 16 appearances including three in his last four.
The former Rochdale man has already stated he is keen to make the short trip up the A61 for good after being frozen out at Hillsborough under Dave Jones but with reports that the Owls want £450,000 for him, Flitcroft says much more negotiating is needed.
He told the press today:
"Chris was 100 per cent committed to the Barnsley cause and the lads feel like he's one of them.
"Chris feels that, he enjoys playing for us, I know what he needs to get him on the football pitch and he's got a connection with Micky Mellon and Martin Scott now.
"He feels a part of the family. He became one of the group during our trip to Spain and it was good to see. He's enjoyed his time here, but at the minute he's a Sheffield Wednesday player.
"He's someone we'd love to recruit and we'll be working on that over the next couple of weeks, but while he's a Sheffield Wednesday player all I can say is a massive thank you to Chris for the way he went about his duty."
